Add to Shopify — FreeHow to use bulk coupon codes on Shopify
Unique bulk coupon codes are used when you want each customer to receive their own one-time-use code — common for influencer campaigns, loyalty rewards, win-back email sequences, or referral programs. Unlike a public code that anyone can share, unique codes let you control exactly how many times your discount is used and track who redeemed it.
This generator creates codes with no ambiguous characters (no I/1 or O/0 confusion) and optional prefixes to make your campaigns recognizable and filterable in Shopify Admin.
Frequently asked questions about Shopify discount codes
How do I import bulk discount codes into Shopify?
Go to Shopify Admin → Discounts → click the Import button (top right). Upload the CSV file generated here (it uses a "code" column header that Shopify expects). After upload, you'll be prompted to set discount type (percentage, fixed amount, free shipping), discount value, usage limits per code, and expiry date. Each code in the CSV becomes a separate single-use discount code.
How many discount codes can Shopify handle?
Shopify supports an unlimited number of discount codes per store. The bulk CSV import can handle thousands of codes at once. However, Shopify has a limit of 20 automatic discounts (discount rules that apply at checkout without a code) — that limit doesn't apply to unique code-based discounts created via CSV import.
What format should my Shopify discount codes be in?
Shopify discount codes should be uppercase, 4–20 characters, alphanumeric. Avoid ambiguous characters like O/0 and I/1 that customers may mistype — this generator excludes them by default. A meaningful prefix (e.g., "SUMMER-", "VIP-", "FLASH-") makes codes more readable, easier to filter in Shopify Admin, and slightly more trustworthy to customers.
Can I use these codes for percentage discounts in Shopify?
Yes. This generator creates the unique code strings only — the discount value, type (percentage off, fixed amount, free shipping, buy X get Y), minimum order requirements, and usage limits are all configured in Shopify Admin after you import the CSV. You have full control over all discount parameters.
What is the difference between unique discount codes and a single code in Shopify?
A single discount code (e.g., "SAVE10") can be shared publicly and used by anyone any number of times (or with a per-customer limit). Unique codes (e.g., "SAVE-X4F2K9") are single-use codes typically used for influencer campaigns, loyalty rewards, or email campaigns where you want each recipient to get their own code. Bulk unique codes prevent code sharing and make campaign attribution easier.
